The Owl Trend

Owls are everywhere! Well, it seems that way. It all started when my husband bought me this necklace from etsy for Christmas. (I picked it out, therefore I love it.)

I’ve been seeing owls all over the place since then.

On Decor8. A supper cute umbrella stand. Too bad I don’t own any umbrellas:

From etsy. I love this bag:

But this is the owl I want most of all (I found it on BlueFlip Art). I think it would go great in my kitchen:

Cool Spool

Cool Spool

I love this DIY spool/chair/table I saw on Design Sponge. I also love how some of the comments people left on the post analyzed the piece as if it came from a budding furniture designer who needed to be knocked down a few pegs. So the proportions might not be perfect, but I still love it enough to drive to Salt Lake City and go dumpster diving to find myself a sturdy spool or two. We all know there is enough construction happening downtown that some of these just have to be lying around.

Chicago!

Chicago

I love going to big cities. It is funny how they pull my emotions two ways. I love them because they have so much history. They have big beautiful buildings with all those little architectural details they never take the time to do anymore–or more likely don’t have the money to do anymore. But then they are also so dirty! As I was walking to the train I was pretty sure the stairs I was using would crumble underneath my feet (they were halfway gone already) and I would land right in a puddle of sludge. It makes me so grateful for my little Pleasant Grove. And Pleasant Grove does have some great architectural gems. Just not quite on the level of Chicago.
