Broadbents in Lehi

I just heard of a great little fabric shop in Lehi. It’s been around for 126 years…I almost feel ashamed I haven’t heard of it before. I was planning on visiting this coming week, so I was super excited to get a $5 coupon in the mail today. Wahoo! Look in your Home Town Values magazine and you might have one, too. I’ll let you know what I think of the store.

A cute little blogger and jewlery designer named Caroline Armelle wrote about the store last year. Click here to read her review.

Broadbent: 128 N. 100 E., Lehi Utah; open from 9-5

Thanksgiving Point Emporium Coupon!

Project Update: We’ve had the handyman over today replacing doors and fixing lights, etc. The only thing I can complain about is the millions of flies that are now in the house. The doors were open all day and they took it as an invitation.

On to more exciting subjects. I got my Utah Valley Adventure Passport in the mail a month or two ago and recently found it again. It’s a fun little booklet that lists 10 adventures you can participate in throughout Utah Valley. At every stop you can get the booklet stamped just like a real passport.

The exciting thing I discovered are the coupons in the back of the booklet. There is one for 20 percent off any one item in the Thanksgiving Point Emporium (excluding furniture). I LOVE the Emporium. It has a ton of beautiful and unique home decor, jewlery, and other odds and ends. It is a bit expensive, but everything is beautiful. It is worth it to go just to get ideas, even if you can’t afford anything. But, hey, with 20 percent off some of the pretty things just might be in your grasp.

If you want a Utah Valley Adventure Passport you need to visit the Utah Valley Visitors Center at 111 S. University Avenue in downtown Provo.

I.M. Home Furniture in Provo

I finally got the opportunity today to stop by I.M. Home Furniture on University Avenue in Provo. What piqued my interest is all the modern furniture I’ve seen in their advertisements. Let’s be real here: I’m pretty sure Utah County is on the bottom of the list of places to find a modern couch. So I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I’m not someone who loves extremes (either modern or traditional). They have some awesome buyers who have found a great place between R.C. Willey and IKEA. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me or I could have shown you pictures of some of the best looking, and still affordable, sofas I’ve seen in a long time.

Right now they are having a sale where everything is at least 30% off. (All this really means is that you don’t have to haggle them down because they have come down as much as they are allowed to already…According to what the sales person told me, some of the prices are lower than what they are allowed to ever come down on a normal day.)

I’m actually very excited to take my husband back and see what he thinks about a few things.

I.M. Home Furniture: 977 S. University Ave., Provo. Sale ends July 26.

Osmond Designs–Utah Furniture Store

I love walking around Osmond Designs , a Utah furniture store located on Lehi’s main street; in fact I just went in on my lunch break yesterday. They have some good buyers–awesome taste, not too pricey. For me personally I couldn’t go in there and buy a new set of couches, but if I saved up my pennies it wouldn’t take me too long until I could. The thing that I really like about Osmond Designs is that you can tell they know what they are doing, and there are a bunch of interior designers on staff that can help you out if you have concerns or questions. I checked out their website and they have a room planning tool I can’t wait to fiddle with. I’m thinking that Osmond Designs might be a good place to find your splurge piece if you are in my income level, they have some good lookin’ chairs and accent pieces, and if you seem to have a bit more money they are the perfect place to go and get your new house completely furnished. Let me know if you stop by!

151 East State St. Lehi, UT 84043. Open Monday through Saturday 10-7.

Country Style at Scrooge and Marley’s–a Utah Home Decor Store

I stopped by Scrooge and Marley’s a month or two ago without my camera, and they don’t have a website, so I can’t show you how incredibly cute the store is. The building is an old, old pioneer home and they sell quaint home decorations and furniture.

I would definitely label their style as “country.” I’m not the biggest fan of country decorations, but one time during the year there is an exception. It is around the 4th of July. I would love my home to look like a country cottage from mid June until after the July 24th. (Can I just say Utah is so lucky to have two heritage holidays in July? I love it.) Right now I want to go and buy up everything at Scrooge and Marley’s and plunk it down in my home. They are a bit pricey, but I’m sure there are deals to be found!

Scrooge and Marley’s Emporium of Country Gifts and Furnishings is located at 791 N. 1st E. in Lehi. They are open Monday through Friday 10-6.

Tai Pan Home Decor–Again!

A few years ago, my friends Kim and Paige worked with me at an office near Thanksgiving Point. Kim soon decided to move on to better things and started working from her home in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley. After Paige and I got over the shock, we decided that we needed to meet up often and found that Tai Pan Trading Company in Sandy was the perfect place. It was half way between our two locations; and the store is huge, so it takes us at least an hour to walk through it. We have plenty of time to talk, all while looking through the fun, fun merchandise. (What can I say, I’m a fabulous multitasker.)

Right now their annual blowout tent sale is going on, and my friends and I are going to meet up! This is the first time in many months, so I’m excited to see what’s new at TP. Tai Pan is yet another store that was born and bred here in Utah. The store in Sandy was the first location that is wholesale to the public, though there are two more now. And what does wholesale mean? Good prices and fabulous deals. I’ve bought a lot from TP: picture frames, wall hangings, fun seasonal garlands and ornaments, candle stands, and there is so much more I want to buy. (I do have a little restraint. My husband is so impressed.)

Tai Pan in Sandy is located at 555 W. 9000 S. (just west of I-15). They are open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. To see their other locations (Clearfield and St. George) visit their website at taipantrading.com.

Design Company Fabrics–In Draper!

I’m so excited that Design Company Fabrics is now a chain! My mom heard of the fabulous fabric store a few years ago and I love going in to drool over the beautiful bolts of cloth. It is good quality stuff. To be honest, until I went to Design Company the only fabric stores I had ever been to were the usual chains, like Joann (which I still love), and so going and seeing the rows and rows of beautiful, beautiful designer cloth was an eye opener. The fabrics aren’t cheap, but they do have great sales every now and then. Today, tomorrow and Saturday they are having a grand opening sale where everything in the store is 40% off. Sounds great! I haven’t been able to make it in to the store since I moved from Salt Lake to PG, so the Draper location is super appealing. If you are in the market for curtains or want to reupholster some chairs, or want to get super crazy and make your own bedding, then you should go and take advantage of this super sale.

Old location:  2253 S. 500 E., Salt Lake City. Open 9-5 weekdays and Saturday 12-4

New location: 196 W. 12300 S., Draper. Open 10-6 weekdays and Saturday 11-4

FindCouch.com in Orem

(Editors Note: Since I first wrote this post I have received some comments from customers that suggests FindCouch.com isn’t a good business to work with. Although the couches I saw in their show room looked nice it seems that the work doesn’t live up to the hype and that their customer service is nothing to brag about. I would suggest going to another store to purchase a couch. It seems like a good business model, but it isn’t worth the low prices if your couch falls apart.)

I got a flier a few weeks ago for FindCouch.com and have been interested in the idea behind the store ever since. I went into the store today and am super excited about it now! Here is the lowdown–they have a ton of couch/chair/love seat styles to choose from and hundreds of colors and mediums including the super nice leather, a leather match (which means nice leather on the most used parts and vinyl on the rest) and micro fiber. So if you are in the market for some new seating, you can go in and pick out EXACTLY what you want. It is like ordering custom furniture, but without the sky high prices. Their manufacturer is in China, so it comes literally on “the slow boat from China” (8-10 weeks) but you don’t have to worry about shopping in a ton of stores to find what you want. Their site shows some prices (that look really good) but for some of their more modern pieces you have to go in to see what is available. I’m kinda proud of this little store that started right here in Utah. It is now expanding to other markets, so California, Idaho and Nevada get excited.

I personally am interested in this one. He said is is $680 for microfiber and $760 for leather match. Not bad!

Their Preston Collection, that has three pieces starting at $900, isn’t too bad though!

Tammi’s Finders Keepers-Great Utah Furniture Store

I’m in love with this little store called Finders Keepers on American Fork’s Main Street. The first time I walked into the store I just knew there was a story behind it. I asked the employee behind the counter what the story was, and I quickly found out that he was the proud husband of Tammi, the shop’s owner.

He said Tammi has always found great deals on unique home decor and furniture–sometimes she even revamped old furniture to sell–and used her garage as the show room. She would hold just a few garage sales a year and make a lot of money, and got really good feedback from her customers. Pretty soon the city she lived in found out and said she was making too much money, so she needed to buy a store front or shut up shop. She promptly found a great old building in AF and business has been booming ever since. The store is now open from 10-6 Monday though Friday.

Every time I go into the store I find something to love. My best find so far is a sink/vanity. We bought it at Finders Keepers for not too many hundreds of dollars and the next week I got a product catalog in the mail that had the EXACT same vanity for $300 more–plus shipping! How does Finder’s Keepers keep their prices so low? It is a mystery. I am just glad they do it! They have a website online for those who want to brows prices and merchandise. I’m loving this red cabinet right now. Wouldn’t this be a great accent piece?

Real Deals in American Fork

Last Thursday I stopped by Real Deals, a great little shop in Utah County that has good deals on unique home decor. They keep their costs low by renting out an old building and only being open on Thursdays and Saturdays. Some of my favorite items they had there were a turquoise coffee table and a big white bird cage. They would be so fun in my front room!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera with me on Thursday, so I took a screen shot of the Real Deals website that has the franchise owner’s picture as well as a picture of the store. There are a lot more pictures online if you are interested, just click here to browse through them.

Their Customer Bill of Rights are great. You have the right to:

  • Drool upon entering.
  • Make us your preferred source of retail therapy.
  • Leave the store bare…leave the store naked!
  • Mistake Real Deals for heaven on earth.
  • Ditch your kids, meet your friends, and shop till you’re sane again.
  • Well up with happy tears. We understand.
  • Make us your Saturday morning hangout.
  • Get goose bumps of excitement even when it’s hot outside.
  • Ruin all of our wonderful displays.
  • Make us open every box and inspect every clock to find the one with the greenest finish.
  • Tell everyone where you got that perfect piece for that hard-to-decorate spot in your house.
  • Ask for the item that makes us get a ladder to reach.
  • Buy your own birthday present…every week.

Sounds good to me!
