I Just Need to Carry On!

I saw this poster months ago and immediately loved it. I saw it again today and its simple, straight forward message struck me. I’ve been such a whiner (see the post from yesterday) and I just need to keep calm and carry on. I might just order the poster to hang in my house as a constant reminder to not wallow in the ugly-house blues but just move on and get it done! I need to cowboy up!

I also love this poster because of the history behind it. The originals were printed in England during World War II when the British were facing invasion/bombing/other really bad things. If this message helped during those perilously bad times, it can help me! Plus it looks sweet.

(After reading what I just wrote it sounds like I think my life is horrible or something. It really isn’t, and I know that. I am just a WHINER!)

(The poster can be found in sfgirlbybay etsy store .)

Salt Lake Boutique Opportunity

I just found out about a great opportunity to be a vendor in a craft show called the Sweet Tweets Boutique in October–the 17th and 18th to be exact. It will be held in a model home in Herriman, Utah, and is being put on a gal named Andra. If you have a little side business or fun craft you want to promote send a description and pictures to her at andrastoker[at]yahoo[dot]com.

The Mid-Project Blues

The last couple of months I have been so busy that it has been really hard to get my kitchen up and running and functional. So hard in fact that absolutely no work as been done on is since April. So, I’ve been living out of a mini kitchen in my attic (but using the fridge two floors down) and just hoping that once my big project at work was complete I would be able to get to it. Now, two weeks after said project I am feeling an amazing amount of frustration. I just want my kitchen to be done. I want all my Saturdays back that I spent working so that I can put them into my pathetic looking house. I need to paint it, put in a new sink, and finish the flooring among many, many other things.

So, on Monday I called a handyman and got a quote. For about $300 he’ll come and finish quite a bit of my house (no painting). I think I’m just going to do it. I’ll keep you updated.

Osmond Designs–Utah Furniture Store

I love walking around Osmond Designs , a Utah furniture store located on Lehi’s main street; in fact I just went in on my lunch break yesterday. They have some good buyers–awesome taste, not too pricey. For me personally I couldn’t go in there and buy a new set of couches, but if I saved up my pennies it wouldn’t take me too long until I could. The thing that I really like about Osmond Designs is that you can tell they know what they are doing, and there are a bunch of interior designers on staff that can help you out if you have concerns or questions. I checked out their website and they have a room planning tool I can’t wait to fiddle with. I’m thinking that Osmond Designs might be a good place to find your splurge piece if you are in my income level, they have some good lookin’ chairs and accent pieces, and if you seem to have a bit more money they are the perfect place to go and get your new house completely furnished. Let me know if you stop by!

151 East State St. Lehi, UT 84043. Open Monday through Saturday 10-7.

Fabulous Routine

I am happy to announce my traveling is done until August! Vacations are such necessary things, but it is nice to get back into a routine. So it’s back to workin’ 9-5 and dreaming of having my home remodel done soon! (Sigh. If only I could use my kitchen.)

When we were in San Francisco we biked across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was the highlight of the trip.

This was the most beautiful lavender farm in Oregon. But it really don’t compare to the lavender farm I work for right here in the state of Utah! We are lucky.

Oregon Lavender Festival!

I’m off again! I’m going to the Oregon Lavender Festival this weekend to get some ideas for next year’s Lavender Days. I’ll make sure to post some pictures on Monday.

From their website:

"For a day or two, leave the world of hustle and bustle, computers, and chaos to soak in the delights lavender has to offer. Sometimes simply standing in the midst of a lavender field with its overwhelming beauty and aroma can be medicine enough to restore calm and recharge your spirit."

Steel Days in American Fork

I love how every town in Utah County seems to have it’s own celebration during the summer. I unfortunately missed Pleasant Grove’s Strawberry Days rodeo because I was working, but I feel like I’ll be able to make up for it with American Fork’s Steel Days that is coming up next week.

On Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19, there is a craft boutique at the National Guard Armory (251 S. 200 E.). I think it sounds like a lot of fun! Hopefully I’ll be able to pick up a few cute things for my neglected house! But I’m really excited for the "Big Show" on that Saturday night. Why? Because I will be able to see fireworks this year!

I’m Back!

Hey friends! I’m back and boy did I have some fun. It is so nice to get out and have a good ol’ vacation once in a while. San Francisco was fabulous…beautiful weather, great places to shop, awesome things to do…however the fog smothered the fireworks. (Favorite quote from the trip: "That was the best fireworks show I’ve ever heard.") I have a lot of pictures I am excited to share with you, so once I find some time to download them I’ll post more about the trip!

For now I’ll just leave with a look at some Franciscan dinnerware I found on KSL.com. Isn’t it beautiful? I think it is fun that it comes with some extras like a candle holder and gravy boat. Click here to see the post on KSL.com.

It’s time for some fun!

Lavender Days is over! Sad for all of you who missed out on the fun, but happy for all of us planning it! We spent A LOT of time, blood, sweat, and tears helping the festival get going and now I’m getting out of the office for a few days…(it’s the least I can do for my nerves after working 95+ hours last week!) I just wanted to brag a little bit about the hotel I will be staying at in San Fran. Isn’t it beautiful!

San Francisco

I just booked a trip to San Francisco. We are leaving the Wednesday after Lavender Days , and I am so excited. I am in major need of a vacation! This is the first trip where my husband and I will be staying in a hotel and not with family or friends. I think it will be a blast.

I think my posting will be a bit sporadic the next couple of weeks. I’m going to be working hard (I didn’t get home until 8:30 today!) and then hangin’ by the bay. So bear with me! I’ll be posting regularly again after July 4th.
